The life-changing, healing power of positive affirmations

the healing power of Positive Affirmations

So often in life, we think that in order to make changes in our lives, that will have a BIG impact, the changes we make must also be big. I’m here to tell you that simply isn’t the case.

The simple truth is, it’s the small, often unnoticed changes that lead to big changes in how we feel, how we view life, how we interact with others and with ourselves.

The old saying sticks and stone will break my bones but words will never hurt me couldn’t be further from the truth, the damage of negative speech is devastating, luckily the healing power of positive affirmations is something you can use to combat the negativity.

Let go of Judgement

As part of our human nature, because we are only human after all, we have a tendency to live our lives in judgement. Judgement of ourselves as well as others. This is exceptionally rife nowadays with social media platforms such as twitter, where everyone has an opinion, and somehow it seems to have become common practice for people to pass public and vocal judgement on strangers, celebrities and people they have never met, on a daily basis.

The fact is, when we judge others and ourselves harshly we are giving in to negative emotions and negative thought patterns, which as a consequence sends negative vibrations thorough our bodies. These vibrations carry a frequency and it is this frequency that permeates all our cells, enters our endocrine systems and spreads throughout our entire physical being as well as simultaneously impacting both our conscious and subconscious minds.

The same can be said for every time we have a negative thought. These negative thoughts, words and judgements are borne out of fear. Picture if you will, that there really are only 2 emotions. 2 blanket emotions that encompass all others, and in their simplistic, stripped back and laid back form, there is only love and only fear.

Release fear based thoughts

Fear-based thoughts, behaviours and words are habitual. It’s a behaviour we learn as children. For example ‘You can’t become an artist or musician as this won’t put a roof over your head and food on the table’. In all aspects of our lives, from the time of our conception, fear is there, with a hand in how we approach our thoughts, life and happiness. Sobering thought isn’t it?

So whilst the changes we can make to ensure we resonate and vibrate in the love emotion, we have a job as we need to go back and undo some deep routed, life-limiting belief structures. The good news is that the key to making these is changes which are small, is repetition. It’s recognising when we have thought something or said something that is fear based rather than love based, acknowledging this, forgiving ourselves and counteracting it with a positive thought or mantra.

When you catch yourself having thoughts that are hard on you or on others, say to yourself, ‘I forgive myself for that thought / those words, I wish to now align with ‘love’ or ‘positive life force energy’ or ‘divine love energy’ depending on what you feel, what resonates with you, and which statement you feel you connect the most with. Personally I resonate with divine love energy, some will interpret this as the ‘universe’ or god energy or what ever your beliefs may be. I personally feel that all are encompassed in one and one in all.

The most important thing however is to say this statement out loud if you are able and alone or in your mind’s eye every time you have a thought or pass judgement that is not love based. That is not kind, fair, impartial. I do this many times a day because I am only human after all. But every time I state this mantra, this affirmation I am realigning my conscious mind to a positive vibration, and I notice how much more positive, uplifted, gentler and kinder I feel because of it.

The Healing Power of Positive Affirmations

Another positive thing I like to do every single morning is my positive affirmations for the day. By stating all the things that I am thankful for.

Starting the day in gratitude for something even as simple as like, I am thankful for the sunshine this morning, I am thankful for the great day I am going to have.

By doing making these statements out loud, you energetically raise your vibration, in your cells, in your subconscious, and you attract the same back towards you. I have touched on this in a previous blog and it still stands very much today. By being grateful and acknowledging all that you have, as opposed to all you do not, you essentially infuse positivity into yourself on a psychological and physiologically.

The vibration of those positive words can be felt throughout your entire physical body. Through your endocrine system, your blood, your cells and all your vital organs. This then helps you to raise your own inner vibration, which in turn elevates your mood, it boosts your immune system, it boosts emotional and mental clarity,  it helps to balance your hormones and helps your vital organs and blood do what they need to in order to keep you healthy.

So really do choose your thoughts and words wisely. Let them lift you up, raise your mood, boost your spirit and leave you feeling good. It’s an investment in yourself that is free, quick, easy and can be restarted every single day. After a while of practising these new habits you’ll see the healing power of positive affirmations make a big difference to your life.
